Important Update Regarding the Arriva 48 Bus Service: New Brancepeth, Ushaw Moor and Bearpark.
Durham County Council Transport Team are very keen to support our school community and to ensure that students can travel to school safely. Students who travel to school from New Brancepeth, Ushaw Moor and Bearpark often travel to school via the number 48 service bus. That bus is frequently used by a number of other commuters. As part of DCC’s plan to minimise student use of local bus services, they will be running a daily school bus service for students living in those areas. The bus will run to the same timetable as the number 48 Arriva service, but will be for students only. It will set off/pick up at 7.45 a.m. from New Brancepeth, from Ushaw Moor/Flass Inn at 7.54 a.m. and Bearpark Institute at 7.58 a.m. It will arrive on the school site at approximately 8.10 a.m. It will depart from school at approximately 3.00 p.m. each day. The fare will be £1 per boarding, payable when boarding in the morning and again when travelling home from school. The service will be operated by Weardale Motor Services and all drivers have a full DBS. We are grateful that the Local Authority have provided this service as it allows to manage the potential risk to our students and staff much more carefully and should guarantee that students arrive to school on time.
