Not only will this support you in overcoming any financial barriers to studying at Durham Johnston, it could also open opportunities that may help you progress to university and beyond.

Financial Support administered by the school
To support with education related expenses such as school meals, travel for education, uniform, study visits, exam resits and university applications.
1.The Independent Bursary
Available to students who are in care; care leavers; those in receipt of income support; and disabled young people in receipt of both Employment Support Allowance and Disability Living Allowance.
2. The Discretionary Bursary
Available to students who live in a household with a gross annual income of less than or equal to £40,000 or are in a situation where you are unable to meet your basic needs.

Financial Support administered by the Local Authority or external agencies
1. Free School Meals
Sixth Form Students may also be eligible for Free School Meals. Here that would simply mean that your account was automatically and confidentially topped up. To find out if you qualify, please follow the link below.

3. Education and Skills Bursary Fund Durham City Supported by The Durham Johnston Educational Fund
