A Level Results Day August 2025
School will be open from 8.00am until 1.00pm for Year 13s to collect their A Level results. UCAS Hub will start updating from 8.00am, showing if students have been accepted onto either their firm or insurance university choices, or in some cases neither of those options. This could suggest there is an issue with students' grades in that they have not met the entry criteria of the courses they've applied for, or it could be that the universities are still making a decision on whether to admit the students to courses.
Students are advised to log into UCAS track prior to 8.30am to see if their university application status has updated. However, students should remain calm as it can take UCAS a while to update as results day progresses. A reminder that school is open from 8.30am for both the collection of results and for students to receive any guidance they may need about their next steps. A Level grades are important, but they are not the only measure of how successful a student is, and not a final word on how good a university undergraduate or employee a young person may become. Therefore, students are advised to remain resilient whatever the results are, and to seek our help at school where needed.

No Year 13 should leave the school on results day without having received advice or support if they need it, and furthermore, should have completed and submitted the 'destinations' form included in their results envelope before leaving the building. Please could Year 13 students also return textbooks and other resources loaned by the school on this morning.

GCSE results and Sixth Form Admissions
On GCSE results day, school will be open from 9.00am. Staff will be on hand for help and to advise students throughout the morning. From 9.00am, please come to the main entrance of the school and head for James Hall to receive GCSE results.
For any students who are currently in Year 11 at Durham Johnston who want to start A-Levels with us in September, and have no changes to make to course choices, please hand your enrolment form in at the desk signposted 'Fast-track' in James Hall.
If you have any questions or any course changes you wish to make, then please report to the 'Enquiries' desk where you will be supported by a senior teacher.
We would be grateful if students could bring any school textbooks or other resources which have not yet been returned.
Students new to Durham Johnston, please bring your GCSE results to the school and register for your A-Level courses on the morning of 21st August. We will welcome you from 9.00am so once you've received your results from your current school, come over to us ASAP and confirm your place for courses starting September 2025.
We will register you in the Sixth Form Area and help you with any questions you may have. If you wish to buy a school tie, please bring £10 cash and we can provide one for you.
In the meantime, good luck and we look forward to seeing you on the morning of the 21st August!
