Great performance for GCSE students at Durham Johnston

Once again students of all abilities at Durham Johnston have performed very well across a wide range of subjects. Four in five entries were awarded a Grade C and one in three entries were at Grade A or higher (or equivalent). Students successfully negotiated the changing landscape of examinations, with 75% of students attaining Level 4 in English and in mathematics (standard pass), and 58% of all students passed English and mathematics at Grade 5 (good pass). 8% of entries in English and maths (that is, one in twelve) were awarded Level 9, bucking national predictions.

Headteacher, Michael Wardle said, ‘We are so proud of our students. Behind these statistics are countless stories of success, sometimes against all the odds. Students worked incredibly hard and this hard work has brought them success.’
