A very busy first week back as the football season reaches its climax.

Our Year 7 and Year 11 teams both had excellent wins against Whitworth Park on Tuesday. The Year 7 team now have a very good chance of winning the league and if other results go our way the Year 11 team could also finish as league champions.

On Thursday our Year 10 and Year 11 teams travelled to Wolsingham for our final league games of the season. They won 2- 0 and 4 – 1 respectively meaning our Year 10 team have become league champions.  Congratulations to them.

Good luck to our Year 7 team who are playing Greenfield tonight in the league cup semi-final. If they win, the final is being played next Tuesday at Durham Johnston.

On Wednesday our Year 8 indoor cricket team played the final round of games in the winter league. They beat Framwellgate and Fyndoune easily to win the competition without losing a game.

The outdoor season also started this week with over 20 Year 7 boys attending trials on Wednesday. A team was picked and they played their first match on Thursday against Castle View School. We played very well to restrict them to only 28 runs in 20 overs. It only took our batsmen 5 overs to reach that total – an easy victory. I am sure a successful season lies ahead for them. They have another game tonight against Newcastle Boys School – good luck with the match.

Finally after a dramatic 1 point win against Canon Slade School, Bolton on the final day of last term our Year 8 basketball team have reached the English Schools' National quarter finals. That game will take place next week at home – so good luck to them.
