On Thursday 3rd April Durham Johnston hosted 30 teams from across the North East for the regional final of the Team Maths Challenge 2014.

Teams of four pupils competed in speed and relay rounds to complete a range of challenging problems. Alan Slomson and Andrew Jobbings from UKMT (United Kingdom Mathematics Trust) ran the proceedings and were very impressed by the standard of all the teams taking part.

We are delighted to announce that Durham Johnston came in first place and will now travel to London with their team manager Mrs Cave, to take part in the national final in June this year.

Results:

1st - Durham Johnston (Team: Joel, Luke, Yuriy and Matthew)
2nd - St Robert of Newminster
3rd - Darlington School of Maths and Science

Many thanks to everyone who took part and well done!

Miss Rush, Subject Leader for Mathematics
