Is Your Child Eligible for Free School Meals?

Having free meals is a useful benefit for hard-pressed families. Our biometric tills mean that there is no difference in the way that children who have free meals pay for their food – everyone is treated equally.

Parents can apply using form FSM1 which is available by clicking here, at school or County Hall. You will need to supply documents to prove that you are eligible. You must receive of one of the following:-

1 - Income Support

2 - Income Based Jobseekers Allowance

3 – Guarantee element of State Pension Credit

4 – Income Related Employment and Support Allowance

5 - Child Tax Credit (but receive no Working Tax credits - except for a 4 week period following employment ceasing or hours decreasing to under 16 a week) with annual family income below £16,190.

When you have filled in the for you need to bring it to school along with an original and complete document from the list above as proof of eligibility. A copy of the proof is taken and kept safely with the FSM1 in school. We cannot give any free meals until this is done. Parents have to re-apply every school year but first applications can be made at any time.

The student’s account is credited each day before lunch. If he or she does not use that day’s allowance it is removed from the account after lunch that day.

Please contact us at school if you would like more advice.
